"Garaged" by Simon Collins
I bought the painting above from Art Melbourne yesterday. In addition to the loose brushwork which I love, it held instant appeal, reminding me of a garage of my childhood.
I have been watching Simon Collins’s work develop for some time now and today’s acquisition is the second of his paintings to hang proudly in my growing collection. I was thrilled to hear that Simon’s work was coming to Melbourne after he became one of the 20 finalists chosen from 100s of entries to be displayed at Off The Wall at Art Melbourne 2008. This followed closely on the heels of his selection as a finalist in the Doug Moran Portrait Prize
I have heard whispers of late that Simon is an artist who is “going places”, so it was no surprise to find some of his paintings already sporting red dots by the time we got there.
Simon’s work can be seen at Art Melbourne this weekend, Saturday 10am – 6pm and Sunday 10am – 5pm. It is a good opportunity for Melbourne collectors to pick up one of his works before his forthcoming solo exhibition in July with Francis Keevil Gallery in Sydney.

Great that you got one of Simon's works...I like them very much :)
Thanks so much for the plug Triecia. I'm in the best of company making your pages. And thanks so much for buying too, a few good sales is a great shot in the arm.
Good on you for giving Simon a plug (and a sale). His section in Off The Wall was definitely one of the highlights of ArtMelb.
I've been lucky enough to see the inside of Simon's studio and agree with the 'going places' comment.
I like your work, and your painting style, I was wondering if you'd be interested in exchanging links. My blog is austinmaloney.com and my email is amaloneyart@gmail.com
Best wishes,
Austin Maloney
